She didn’t want to do it, but finally she did and it was one of her best moments. She felt afraid, but after her presentation she felt so good for the effort she applied. Now she feels so much better than her first day of presentations because she now knows that she can do whatever she wants to do. Thank you to the mindfulness session that her teacher conducts every morning (I hear it every morning before I go to the office). Now I know how to make slides, documents, sheets, bookmark folders, and a jamboard. For the first week all my teacher did was teach us how to use all these tools, which taught me a lot and is really helpful.”

“This pandemic has been challenging and really chaotic but the bright side to all of this is that we can find new hobbies from the school, new ways to learn and to find a new “US” from all this chaos. It’s sad that we can’t talk to friends physically and we are stuck at our houses but as my parents always told me “at least look on the bright side”. Quarantine has been a challenge mentality but at the same time I get to achieve things I wouldn’t have and I found a new hobby that I enjoy doing thanks to my school and my teacher.”

“As a student in NZSJ, the best thing about online classes is that students are taught by their teachers how to manage their time by making daily plans, which encourage students to be more independent. Also, we learn to not always depend on our teachers for everything. The teachers provide enough information on the subjects and give the students enough time to complete their assignments.”

“The problem of doing online school is that we are staring at our screen all day from the classes to doing the assignments given to us. Therefore, the school encourages us to exercise, get good nutrition and stay fit during these times. One of the ways the school is encouraging us to exercise is by doing a POUND dance. We also learn about zen and meditation so not only are we staying fit physically, we are also staying fit mentally.”

“One of the ways we show our work to the teacher is by using a program called Google Classroom where we take pictures or share documents for each assignment and get graded for it just like an actual normal school. Our school knows that students are in a new environment and have never done school from home, so our school includes fun activities, projects and friendly discussions to cope with this new way of learning”

“Even though it's an online school my teacher still gave us a group project. I think the projects really help me with getting closer to my classmates. I was a new student here and my first day was already online, so I couldn’t see my classmates face to face. The projects really helped me to be close with them and were now good friends.”
