NZSJ Scholarships

The New Zealand School Jakarta Scholarship programme is to reward exceptional performance and a passion for learning in accordance with the opportunity to realise one's full potential. Scholarships are given to deserving students based on their academic ability, potential for leadership, unique abilities, or other characteristics.

Candidates may hold a maximum of one of our three categories of scholarships.

  • Academic Scholarship

Exceptional new students are eligible to apply for academic scholarships. The applicant should have attained exceptional academic results in the subjects of science, maths, and English.

  • Arts Scholarships

In one major of dance, visual art, or drama, applicants should demonstrate aptitude during the whole academic year. A candidate with a background in music should demonstrate talent on at least one major instrument or get a 6+ on the ABRSM.

  • Sports Scholarships

Candidates should demonstrate skill in two competitive sports. Applicable to exceptional new students or ongoing students participating in a sports exhibition.

  • Koru Scholarships

Students with special talents or have consistently achieved excellence in a particular field may also be considered for a scholarship.

Scholarship Application Requirements for Academic, Arts, and Sports Programmes:

 

1. Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the School Scholarship Programme, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

 

Academic Scholarship

  1. Applicants must have attained exceptional academic results in the subjects of science, maths, and English.

  2. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence and a passion for learning.

Arts Scholarship

  1. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and dedication in one or more areas of the arts, including but not limited to visual arts, performing arts, music, or creative writing.

  2. A portfolio or audition may be required to showcase the applicant's artistic abilities.

Sports Scholarship

  1. Candidates must display exceptional sportsmanship, dedication, and skill in one or more sports disciplines.

  2. A sports resume or video demonstration of athletic ability may be required.

Koru Scholarship

  1. Students with special talents or have consistently achieved excellence in a particular field may also be considered for a scholarship.

  2. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership qualities and can inspire and motivate students. Has coordinated events, fundraised for the school or for charity.

2. General Requirements

Applicants for all scholarship categories must fulfil the following general requirements:

  • Maintain good academic standing or demonstrate continued excellence in their chosen field.

  • Provide a completed scholarship application form, available through the school's website.

  • Submit two letters of recommendation, one from a current or former teacher or coach and another from a non-family member who can speak to the applicant's character and potential.

  • Write a personal statement explaining why they are seeking the scholarship and how it aligns with their future goals (maximum 500 words).

  • Participate in an interview with the scholarship selection committee if required.

  • Agree to the terms and conditions of the scholarship, including participating in school activities, events, and community service projects as a scholarship recipient.

3. Documentation Required

Applicants are required to submit the following documentation along with their application:

  • Transcripts or academic records.

  • Art portfolios (if applying for an Arts scholarship).

  • Sports resumes (if applying for a Sports scholarship).

  • Proof of residence and citizenship (e.g., birth certificate or passport).

  • Any additional materials specified by the scholarship committee.

 

4. Application Deadline

The application deadline for the School Scholarship Programme is  January 2024. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

 

5. Selection Process

The scholarship selection committee will evaluate all applications based on the eligibility criteria, documentation, and interviews. Scholarship awards are competitive and will be based on the merit and potential of the applicants.

 

6. Scholarship Benefits

The School Scholarship Programme covers partial school fees. The exact scholarship amount and duration will be determined by the scholarship committee and may vary based on the applicant's qualifications and the available scholarship funds.

 

7. How to Apply

Applicants should obtain the scholarship application form from the website, complete it, and submit it along with all required documentation by the application deadline. The submission instructions will be provided with the application form.
