NZSJ Whānau WhatsApp Community launching
Dear Parents,
One of the things we are most proud of at NZSJ is the spirit of belonging that comes from our Parents’ Community – our Whānau (pronounced: fah-now). Whānau is a special word in the Māori language that means ‘extended family’, ‘community’, or ‘social village’.
To support our Whānau and make it easier for parents to stay connected, build friendships, and share experiences, we are introducing the NZSJ Whānau WhatsApp Community.
This will be a WhatsApp platform where you can:
- Receive useful parent announcements and updates.
- Opt in to interest groups that match your passions – from padel, book club, and golf, to our marketplace and more in the future.
- Support the school community through new initiatives – for example, some parents have expressed interest in creating a fundraising group for school projects or volunteering in the school library.
If you would like to join immediately, you can do so by clicking here or scanning this QR code:
Class WhatsApp groups will remain separate, as these serve a different purpose – focusing on class-specific matters like school work and class events. Keeping them separate ensures clear and dedicated communication with class teachers.
Looking ahead, we’d be very happy to see more parents volunteer to start new interest groups – whether it’s running, cooking, business networking, or anything else that brings people together. We’ll share more about this and how you can volunteer at the upcoming Parents’ Evening on Friday 29 August.
We’re excited to see how the NZSJ Whānau WhatsApp Community helps us all connect more, support each other, and make our NZSJ family even stronger.
Warm regards,
Tim Maitland
